The Oil-Rite Corporation was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by Frank
J. Lyden in 1933, for the purpose of manufacturing and selling constant
level oilers. Though the company struggled in the early years,
demand for Oil-Rite products increased, which provided steady growth.
By 1951, Oil-Rite Corporation had outgrown its manufacturing
facility. Since suitable facilities could not be found to
accommodate the growing Company in Milwaukee, Manitowoc was selected as
the site for the new plant.
A new factory was built at 2318 Waldo Boulevard in
Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The Company moved to its new quarters in
December 1951. Over the years, five additions were constructed to
the original building as additional space was required.
In September 1980, to accommodate for continued
growth, Oil-Rite Corporation built and moved all operations to a new
facility at 4325 Clipper Drive in Manitowoc's Industrial Park.
Management of Oil-Rite changed during the
Corporation's, 50th anniversary year. In 1983, Donald G. Gruett was
appointed Chief Operation Officer. Mr Gruett has been associated
with Oil-Rite since 1962, and held various management position. In
1984, Mr Gruett became Owner and President of the Corporation.
Under the new management, Oil-Rite Corporation
developed "PurgeX®", a grease and liquid injector pump,
designed for micro lubrication. Full production of the PurgeX®
product line started in 1988 and has grown rapidly since.
In July 1994, Donald Gruett assumed the position of
Chairman of the Board for Oil-Rite Corporation, and appointed Carolyn M
Boldt, President. Mrs. Boldt has been associated with Oil-Rite
since 1973, held various management positions, including Vice President
of the Corporation since 1988.
Due to increased sales, extended product lines, and
the success of "PurgeX®", Oil-Rite Corporation completed a
major facility expansion in March 1995. The expansion is
another step in Oil-Rite's dedication to providing quality products for
the Future. Oil-Rite's mission statement: "We solve customer's application
problems with current and new products/solutions in the lubrication industry. Technology
has been and will be a driver at Oil-Rite Corporation". As a world leader in the
manufacturing and marketing of lubrication equipment, Oil-Rite Corporation looks to the
future with confidence.
